Utopia at Lost Maples
Outdoors + Education = FUN! We had a blast guiding a tour for the 'entire' 3rd grade in Utopia.
Utopia at Lost Maples
Yes, Lost Maples could be described as a UTOPIA !
But in this case, we are talking about the town of Utopia, just across the Bandera-Uvalde County border. We were privileged to lead a tour for the entire* 3rd grade .
We hiked to the 'secret' 2nd pond with many stops along the way.
The questions, observations and sharing of knowledge was INSPIRING. So it is appropriate that one of the students spotted this brain-shaped fungi along the trail. We discussed the 'Lost' Maples and other plants, Red-Tailed Hawks' and other nests, dragon and damselflies , fungi and what else!?! We were humbled by the giant rockslide wall. A little up the Maples trail , we even recruited some other visitors in rock-skipping fun. After all, education is fun but being outdoors, we built in some play time too!
Note : With > 1,450, we were part of the BIGGEST graduating class in TEXAS. Yes, everything is bugger in TX. It made for a LONG ceremony! but the flip side is that technically, we can say we graduated from Southern Methodist University. It was where the graduation was held ! ;>
